A Distance Learning course of 6 Units Course Description Many body masseurs are now applying their skills and techniques into the sporting arena with great success. This type of treatment is finding a niche market in the health and fitness facilities, and many therapists are offering this service both as part of their employment and on a freelance basis. This course is designed to enable therapists to have a greater understanding and appreciation of the specific needs of sports participants in the preparation for and recovery from activity. The course will also investigate the value of sports massage in the early detection and the prevention of sports injuries in addition to being a valuable tool in the rehabilitation of such conditions. Qualifications Qualification 1: Sports Massage Diploma Sports Massage Diploma issued by A Foot Above Training, entitling you to use the letters AFA Dip after your name. Qualification 2: ASET Level 3 – Sports Massage Award This course leads to an ASET Level 3 Award Certificate for successful learners. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to Level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NFQ) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (in which case GCSEs are at level 1 and 2 and A Levels are at Level 3). Study Hours This is only an approximate figure and is dependent upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. The approximate amount of time required to complete the course is: 119 hrs. Assessment Method: At the end of the module will be a revision booklet with questions relating to your course material. This needs to be completed and submitted to your personal tutor for marking. This will help you and your personal tutor assess your readiness for your examination.
