CIEH Principles of Manual Handling Level 1 Health & Safety qualification The 1992 Manual Handling Regulations state that staff should receive information, instruction, training and supervision whenever manual handling has to be employed in the workplace. The annual figure for severe injuries caused by employing poor manual handling techniques continues to rise. Employers cannot afford to neglect this crucial area of training for the benefit of both staff and service users. About the course This is a stand-alone level 1 qualification, which complements the CIEH Foundation Certificate in Health & Safety programme. Topics covered are:
Who is the course for? It is aimed at those who carry our manual handling activities at work, introducing candidates to the risks of manual handling and the controls available. It also introduces the concept of a manual handling assessment. It is appropriate for all employees who handle materials, boxes, mail and packages including both industrial and office workers. How long does the it take? The course is delivered over 6 hours and assessment is by means of a short objective test of 20 questions. CIEH certificates will be provided for all candidates who pass the examination within 3-4 weeks of completion of the course. Please contact “A Foot Above Training” for further information.
