You and your ASET National Award

Who Are ASET?

ASET (Accreditation Syndicate for Education & Training) is a leading National Award Body specialising in providing, quality assuring and certificating vocational learning programmes.

ASET are recognised in the UK by DfEs, LSC and the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority (QCA) and thus the qualification is accredited by the QCA in England, by the CCEA (Council for the Curriculum
Examinations and Assessment) in Northern Ireland and by the ACCAC (The Qualifications, Curriculum and Assessment Authority) in Wales. ASET are recognised to provide awards to the NQF (National Qualifications Framework).

ASET work with organisations throughout the UK, providing a fast, responsive accreditation service designed to meet the needs of organisations and to make a positive contribution to teaching and
learning.  ASET operates to International quality standards in all of its work. They are an ISO 9002 registered organisation, accredited by the British Standards Institute.

ASET offer a range of Qualifications from entry, to Level 4. Most are listed as ‘Vocational Related Qualifications’ (VRQs) or ‘General Awards’ on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Each of them has been designed to conjunction with Centres and subject specialists to meet a specific national, regional or vocational need.

All learners who successfully complete an ASET Award will receive a nationally recognised ASET Certificate. ASET Awards are accredited to national standards at Entry Level and Levels 1 to 4 and Quality assurance is through an annual quality audit process.

ASET is a National Awarding Body specialising in providing, quality-assuring and certificating vocational learning problems for more than fifty years.

Why ASET?

ASET work closely with A Foot Above Training to continually improve our assessment criteria. This enhances the learning experience for all our students.

Our ASET centre licence (Ref: AFABO) demonstrates ASET’s recognition of our standards and systems for teaching, learning, assessment, internal verification and student support. It also signifies that we have been approved by ASET to deliver ASET awards and qualifications. We can guarantee that we meet ASET’s quality standards for learning providers.

These include:

  • Quality standards for the competence of our staff
  • Standards for the quality of our training resources
  • Standards for our assessment procedures
  • Our own robust quality assurance process

An ASET Licence is not a simple thing to get and keep.

To maintain the licence our internal quality assurance systems, learning resources, staffing and academic management are all rigorously assessed by ASET through their Quality Auditors who regularly inspect the Training Centre.

The ASET National Award

All ASET Accredited Courses lead to a Nationally Recognised ASET Award.

That means that the courses are independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to at least level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (in which GCSEs are at levels 1 and 2 and A-Levels are at level 3).

The Award has been designed by the learning provider to meet specific learners’ or employers requirements and as such is not listed as a qualification on NQF. While the duration, content or assessment may vary from similar national qualifications, in accrediting the programme at level 3, ASET attests that its learning outcomes are at an equivalent level to a level 3 National Qualification.

What does the ASET Certificate mean?

An ASET certificate signifies that the student has completed one of our high quality programmes of learning and that the student has reached clearly specified outcomes at a defined level which are up-to-date, relevant and appropriate to the programme area studied.
