This course is for anyone who holds a valid First Aid certificate and wishes to learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator.

• Basic information about the heart and how defibrillation works

• Chain of survival, Defibrillation (Recognition of Heart Rhythms)

• Introduction to the machine, inc. care and maintenance

• Recording of information (Sample Report form)

• Practical use of machine & application of pads

• Voice prompts and appropriate responses

• CPR & use of AED on casualty

• General guidelines for using a defibrillator
